SPECIALIZED TRANSIT SERVICE
PUBLIC NOTICE
The Town of Parry Sound is launching
Phase I of its Specialized Transit Service
effective June 1, 2008
The Specialized Transportation Service will start on a limited basis to ensure that it works effectively. In partnership with Belvedere Customer Support Services and Hammond Transportation the service will provide curb-to-curb transportation in Phase I for those residents of the Town who are confined to a wheelchair. Through pre-scheduled trips the Specialized Transit Bus will pick up wheelchair confined residents at the curb of their property and take those residents and an escort if necessary, to stops on the bus route as provided by the public transportation system. Once the service has been tested for three to six months, it may be expanded to include other residents with defined disabilities
From June 1-June 30, 2008, the service will be provided on the following dates and times:
| Tuesdays |
9:30 a.m-2:15 p.m |
| Fridays |
9:30 a.m-2:15 p.m |
| Saturdays |
9:00 a.m-4:45 p.m |
From July 1st-August 31, 2008, the service will be provided on the following dates and times:
| Tuesdays |
9:00 a.m-4:45 p.m |
| Fridays |
9:00 a.m-4:45 p.m |

Fees for this service will be $2 per ride per person. All trips will be by prescheduled appointment only. The service is being provided in partnerships with Belvedere Community Support Services (BCSS) and Hammond Transportation.
If you are confined to a wheelchair and would like to use the Specialized Transportation Service, an application form must be completed first to register for the service. You can obtain an application form from the Town Office at 52 Seguin St., Parry Sound or by calling 746-2101.
The Town of Parry Sound will keep community residents informed of our plan to expand the Specialized Transportation Service based on an evaluation of Phase I.
